Future posts will provide details that will let you understand the factors involved in operating a camera in a mode other than automatic. Exposure and metering will discussed in a future article – that article will explain how to determine what exposure is appropriate for your photograph. While understanding exposure can be daunting, you really do not need to remember all of the math associated with these factors. Once you are comfortable with the concepts and use your camera in manual mode, it will be just looking at the meter and determining how many clicks you need for the shutter speed, aperture, and/or ISO.
